This giant teddy bear (hence the name) is a total sweetheart with a total pug personality. He’s 1.5 years old, active, playful, silly, and goofy. He’s crate trained, doing great with potty training, and wonderful with kids. He loves to play with toys and is gentle with his little human friends.
Oso was surrendered after getting into fights with his littermate and father. This is to be expected, with several unfixed and/or related dogs. Getting him out of that situation and neutered was a priority, and he adjusted well to the change.
Oso is a confident guy, but there’s one major thing he needs to do in order to feel even better: lose a significant amount of weight. At his current size, he’s showing signs of a collapsing trachea, which is affecting his breathing. Soft palate surgery will help prevent further airway damage, but we don’t feel comfortable putting him under for that at this weight. If an adopter can help him lose 5 pounds by the beginning of February, we will take him to our vet and pay for the procedure.
Most of all, Oso needs an adopter committed to helping him get healthy and become the happiest, healthiest version of himself. This big teddy bear has a lot of love and life ahead of him!
