Chairperson
Kim has devoted her entire life to caring for the most vulnerable, having spent three decades as a registered nurse specializing in neonatal ICU and now dedicated to animal welfare. Kim has three dogs (two pugs) and a cat at home, and there's always a spot for a foster (or five). Her speciality and passion is for the pugs who need extra TLC. She began rescuing bottle baby kittens during the pandemic, and in 2021, expanded her efforts to include pug rescue.
Vice Chairperson
Elizabeth is a Bay Area native who currently works in cybersecurity. Before the tech world, she spent years working in the nonprofit space. Her passion lies in storytelling and relationship building to enable positive change. She’s been involved in animal rescue since 2012, fostering kittens and writing foster cat biographies for the nation’s first cat cafe. She transitioned to pug rescue after adopting Lola in 2023 and falling in love with the breed.
Treasurer
Kate is a Bay Area native who currently works in nonprofit consulting, helping organizations grow from startups to multi-million dollar impact organizations. She is passionate about creating sustainable business practices that allow organizations to focus more time on executing their missions. Kate has two rescue dogs and fell in love with pugs at age 6, when she got to hold a teeny tiny baby pug in the palm of her hand.
Secretary
Pam Dake Shikuzawa is an experienced sales enablement leader currently working in the Bay Area security tech space. She and her husband James got involved in pug rescue as a way to give back to the community during the pandemic. Various rescue leadership roles and almost 50 foster pugs later, they’re excited to begin this new chapter at Bay Area Pug Project with their precious senior pugs Otis and Meatball!
Veterinary Advisor
Dr. Ikezawa attended UC Davis and graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Since then, she's worked in general practice, urgent care medicine, and surgery before joining the Walnut Creek Veterinary Hospital team in 2017. She has a special interest in and love for brachycephalic breeds and their unique medical needs. She resides in the Bay Area with her husband and dog.
