So you're ready for the snorts

We aim to make adoption straightforward and simple. Our goal is to find the best possible home for our dogs, and we're hoping you might be one of them! Please review our adoption requirements and FAQ before applying, and we look forward to speaking with you.

Good things take time—great things come with a wagging, curly tail! The adoption process may take a little patience, but finding your new dog is always worth the wait.

THE STEPS

Apply

To start your adoption journey, submit an application. While we encourage you to apply for the pup that steals your heart, keep an open mind—some dogs receive multiple applications and get adopted by the time you have your interview. Staying flexible will help you find the perfect match!

Video interview

Once we accept your application, a team member will reach out to schedule a video interview to kick off your adoption journey. We will discuss your lifestyle, preferences, and readiness to adopt. During this call, we will ask to see the main living space and/or yard of your home to verify they meet our requirements.

Meet & greet

Once approved, we’ll connect you with the foster families of the dogs you're interested in. The foster family will share insights about the dog's personality and needs, and if it feels like a great match on both sides, we’ll set up a meet and greet—either in person or virtually, depending on your location. If you already have a dog, please bring them to the meeting.

Make it official

If everything goes well at the meet and greet, let's make it official! We will send over the paperwork to sign and pay, and you can take the dog home right then and there. If you need a few more days to prepare your home, you can schedule an official "gotcha day" with the foster within the week or so (depending if you're traveling to come pick them up).

Additional Info

  • We will not discuss adoption details regarding any particular dog if you have not yet applied to adopt.
  • We are a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization. We will make every effort to schedule your interview in a timely manner. Please be patient with us…the dogs need our time too.
  • Most dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all shots prior to adoption, depending on their age and health status.
  • We welcome adopters from out of state! Please note that you are required to pick the dog up from Northern California and that not all of our dogs are fit to fly.
  • We do not hold dogs for adopters; we require pickup within the week or so of your meet and greet.
